The Taste
of Culture
In front of la Serra, 3 minutes on foot, there is the Latteria di Frontin, Frontin’s Dairy, which is very well known for its cheeses and butter. Less than seven km away, high on a hill, there is Mel, voted one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Twenty-two km away you’ll find the town of Feltre, with its beautiful walled citadel. On the way to Feltre a stop in Pedavena, a historic brewery founded in 1897, is highly recommended. Equally striking, with its spectacular front on the Piave river, is Belluno, twelve km.
It takes just half an hour to reach Valdobbiadene and the Prosecco vineyards; after a tasting, it is worth continuing on to Possagno (10 minutes), where the extraordinary Gypsotheca and Antonio Canova Museum are located. Only one hour’s drive away are Venice and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the pearl of the Dolomites. Since 2009, the mountains have been declared a UNESCO heritage site.

Nature
& Sport
Belluno’s Valley is scattered with lakes (among the most famous: Santa Croce, Alleghe and Misurina) and streams, which often have carved deep and spectacular gorges. Less than six km from Frontin and la Serra you find Brent de l’Art, a series of spectacular canyons in any season, for a swim in summer and a magical panorama of ice stalactites in winter. Another unique gorge is Bus del Buson, a few kilometers from Belluno. For mountain lovers, you are spoiled for choice. This is Dolomites‘ Kingdom. Alta Via 1 and 2 land inĀ Belluno and Feltre respectively. The first one connects Lake Braies in Val Pusteria (Bz) with Belluno and the latter Bressanone (Bz) with Feltre.
Not far from Feltre, are two important rock gyms for sport climbing and an extraordinary naturalistic area. The Fonzaso crag is historic, with 40 routes, while Schievenin‘s offers more than 400.
The Vincheto di Celarda natural reserve – a 99-hectare river zone – is a wetland of international interest, highly recommended for those who love bird watching.
